About the LBFE Chapters

Isolation and loneliness among older adults is not a new phenomenon

In France, after the Second World War, an organization named Les Petits Frères des Pauvres (Little Brothers of the Poor) was founded to combat loneliness among France’s poor and older people.

Many young men had died in the war, leaving parents behind without anyone to support them. From this original organization, a new and independent American organization, LBFE, was born in the United States.

Although LBFE is one organization with shared mission and values, each chapter has its own 501(c)(3) status and board of directors, and each is financially independent.

There are currently 6 chapters and one expansion site in the USA.
